What is an “Online Desktop”?

• It is a complete second PC that you access through the internet. You run a small program that opens a remote desktop window so you can interact with this 2nd PC. Everything you do in that window takes place on the remote computer, not in the physical computer in front of you.


Can I use my old computer to run ArmorGate?

• Yes. The 2nd (remote) PC does all the hard work, so you can use modern programs on even very slow and outdated computers.


What operating system can I run ArmorGate?

• ArmorGate runs in Windows, Mac OS, and Linux


Is it secure?

• Yes, all traffic is SSL encrypted which means it cannot be read by any external third party, or hacker. The working environment itself was built from the ground up for security.


Is it private?

• Encapsulated design (Not even Armor employees have access to your private desktop)
• Every bit of client data stored on our servers is encrypted using the strongest (4096 bit) encryption algorithm available. The encryption keys are stored only on the client side therefore only you can access your data.


How do I access my Desktop from any computer?


• Plug a USB key containing ArmorGate into any PC and run the program from it. A U3 version is also available.


Can I transfer files between my Desktop and local PC?

• Yes. You can make any folder on your local PC accessible from within ArmorGate and use this to transfer files.


Do I have to be connected to the Online Desktop at all times?

• No. When you are done working, simply close ArmorGate and remove your USB key.


Is my data protected from viruses, spyware and other malicious software?

• If it is within the ArmorGate environment, yes. ArmorGate does not protect the rest of your PC, but creates a separate, sterile and private environment where you can do your most sensitive work.


Can I print?

• Yes. Any printer that works on that computer normally will work in ArmorGate.


Do you support sound?

• Yes. You can listen to MP3s, watch movies and hear sound effects in ArmorGate.


Do I need to back up my data?

• No. The information within ArmorGate is backed up automatically by us.
• We do recommend that you make a copy of the user profile and encryption keys on your USB key and keep them separately. For privacy reasons, we do not have access to your encryption keys.

What is ArmorTransfer?


• ArmorTransfer is a secure and anonymous way to send files of unlimited size directly from you to another computer user. The transfer will go as quickly as your combined internet connections can handle. This feature is available Free to non-subscribers.


What is ArmorShred?

• Normal deletion of files can be reversed so others can recover your deleted data. ArmorShred allows you irrecoverably destroy files so they can never be restored. This feature is available Free to non-subscribers.



What happens if I lose my internet connection while I am working?

• The next time you log in, the desktop and all its programs will be in the exact same condition as when you were cut off. All your documents will be preserved and re-loaded.
